This platform exists to help international university leaders, investors, policy makers, and corporate innovators understand São Paulo's startup ecosystem quickly and accurately. It is not designed to promote any single institution.
Editorial methodology
We separate facts, evidence, interpretation, and recommendations. Facts and figures live on Why São Paulo and the Evidence Center. Narrative interpretation is confined to The Story. Practical suggestions for engagement are on Opportunities.
Source policy
We use only official reports and institutional publications. Preferred publishers include Startup Genome, Sebrae, Distrito, Liga Ventures, Dealroom, PitchBook, Crunchbase, IBGE, OECD, the World Bank, and the World Economic Forum. Every statistic on the platform links to its original source. If a figure cannot be verified, it is not published. We do not host copyrighted reports; we always redirect to the publisher.
Updates
The platform is continuously updated as new editions of reference reports are released. Corrections are welcome: if you find a figure that no longer matches its cited source, please write to the relevant institution and to us.
Neutrality
São Paulo is presented realistically — with its strengths and its unresolved challenges. Nothing here should be read as promotional.
